Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis:

An Important Tool in the Development of Individualized Nutrition and Wellness Programs

What is Nutrigenetics?

The Gene SNP Assessment is a nutrigenetic test. Nutrigenetics is the science of gene and diet interactions. This science is applied to help you understand the impact of your genes in response to your dietary and lifestyle choices. This test will provide you and your nutritional consultant with a customized health assessment to support the implementation of a totally personalized nutrition and wellness plan.

How Does It Work?

The Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis makes it possible to identify variations in your genes related to five of the most important health areas: Heart Health, Bone Health, Insulin Sensitivity, Inflammation, and Antioxidation/Detoxification. Once we know which gene variations you have, we can guide you in taking the necessary steps to optimize your well-being through making healthier diet and lifestyle choices and by choosing appropriate supplementation.  All that is needed to get started is a DNA sample painlessly taken by sterile cheek swab and the completion of a lifestyle questionnaire. Test results from the laboratory are typically returned in two to three weeks.

What We Are Versus What We Eat

Our bodies have specific requirements. For optimum performance, we need to plan our diet according to our biological instruction manual: our genes. Each gene is a segment of DNA, the "master” molecule that, together with your environment, shapes your development as a human being. Small differences in your genes can influence how well your body metabolizes foods, uses nutrients, and removes damaging toxins. By adjusting your diet and lifestyle to your unique genetic profile, as well as supporting through supplementation, you can improve your body's ability to function at its optimum level. Dr. Sally Nay has her Ph.D. in holistic nutrition. As our nutritional consultant, she is here to guide you each step of the way.

Fee for DNA Screening Analysis and Consultation

The combined fee for the DNA Screening Analysis and professional consultation is $399.00 (plus tax). This includes the actual laboratory testing and results, review and interpretation by Dr. Nay, and two one-hour consultation sessions with Dr. Nay. The first session takes place prior to the testing and the second one follows after your results have arrived. The Designs for Health Metabolic Profiles

Why do I not feel well much of the time?
What is contributing to the symptoms I am having?
Are food reactions affecting my health and weight management?
Is stress affecting my health?

As a continuing quest to provide innovative assessment and patient care, Integrative Therapies is now offering nutritional testing by Designs for Health.  Assessment administration and testing feedback is provided by Dr. Sally Nay.  Dr. Nay holds a Ph.D. in holistic nutrition and has a passion for helping others optimize their wellness potential.  The metabolic profiles provide an excellent tool to assess your nutritional status and supplemental needs.  Coupled with Dr. Nay's nutritional expertise, this information could provide new answers to mysterious health questions that have gone unanswered.

What are the Designs for Health Metabolic Profiles?

The systems of the body work together, not in isolation, so it is often difficult to know where to begin to assess functional deficiencies.  The Designs for Health Metabolic Profiles provide a roadmap that recognizes these interactions and can point to metabolic blockages that can ultimately lead to significant health problems.  The Designs for Health Metabolic Profiles show essential nutrient and digestive system dysfunctions that reveal root causes of symptoms.  This metabolic map allows the targeted use of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients, putting you more quickly on your journey to wellness.  Recommendations from the testing results allow for specific correction of nutritional imbalances, avoiding costly, time-consuming, trial and error processes and allowing for nutritional support that is tuned to your individual needs.

One of the tests in the Profile assesses organic acids in your metabolic pathways.  This helps you know if specific nutrients are available in the body to create optimum chemical reactions.  This testing can discover B vitamin deficiencies and other imbalances, which would affect the cellular energy, neural function, detoxification capabilities, as well as intestinal microbial balance.  A simple urine test is required.

Many profound clinical symptoms hinge on fatty acid status.  Achieving an optimum fatty acid balance minimizes inflammation, a major risk factor in heart disease and cancer.  Inflammation also plays a role in a variety of pain disorders. Through bloodspot testing, which does not require a blood draw, your fatty acid balance can be assessed. Blood spot testing can also provide information about food sensitivities.

You may view a 45 minute DVD that thoroughly explains the value of the test and the procedures that are involved.  The DVD is available for viewing in our office most hours during the week.

More for less

This cutting-edge metabolic functional test checks mitochondrial energy function, energy metabolism, functional vitamin status, carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism, food sensitivities, essential fatty acid balance, oxidative stress, dysbiosis and digestive markers, detoxification markers and neurotransmitter markers.  These profile assessments provide a broad scope of testing at an exceptional value. For the cost of what many clients pay for allergy testing, you can find out so much more about your body, its individual needs and specialized strategies to support optimum health.

For a consultation with Dr. Nay, please call Integrative Therapies.  You may also schedule a time to view the DVD in conjunction with your appointment.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as faintness, dizziness, headaches or other significant pain or health problems, please consult your physician for screening and appropriate medical attention.
